We are originally from New Jersey. Just to give you a little background about us; we were married for 14 years and divorced for 24 years. Met up at a mutual friend’s mother’s funeral in 2007 and have been back together for 17 years now! One never knows what life will bring you!  We love this town and all it has to offer.

 

Jim Thorpe is located at the base of a steep valley carved by the Lehigh River; the town of Jim Thorpe combines a rich history with a growing reputation as a place where residents and visitors can enjoy the beauty of the mountains while also experiencing the town's many accommodations, shopping, dining, entertainment and outdoor recreation opportunities.

 

Jim Thorpe's proximity to the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, New York and other population centers along the eastern seaboard makes it a great place to get away from it all. Only 1.5 hours from Philadelphia, and 2 hours from New York City, Jim Thorpe offers an authentic and unique respite for visitors and the sense of feeling far away.

 

The Van Pelt House 

Our 1853 townhouse has been operating for 9 years.  It is one street above the main street in town and offers a peaceful locaion. Our goal is to provide a space for people to make happy memories and keep them coming back for more. I am extremely customer oriented!

 

Van Pelt’s Suite on Opera Square

Purchased in 2000, our 1860 3 story house on W Broadway originally had an antique store on the first floor. When I came on board we turned it into an antique/crochet (I make hats, scarves etc.). After 6 years and an Achilles tendon surgery that kept me on the first floor for about 4 months, we decided to close up shop and create a suite. The kitchen was gutted and now it’s like a kitchen from HGTV. This is a brand new space. Since owning and operating The Van Pelt House on High Street we knew what it would take to create something very special.

 

Everything is provided for your stay except your personal toiletries and food. Bedding, bath towels and linens are provided. Our fully functional kitchens are stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pots, pans, dishes, glassware and silverware. The refrigerators are stocked with butter, half & half, an assortment of spices and some breakfast cereals.

 

The Van Pelt House sleeping arrangements is for up to 5:

1 queen bed in master bedroom on 2nd floor, 1 queen sleeper sofa in living room with plush mattress,1 futon bed in small bedroom on 2nd floor.

The Suite sleeps 2 people with a pillow top queen size brand new bed.

 

Our year round vacation properties can be Your Home Away from Home. Two totally different rentals.  You choose peace and quiet and a short walk downtown or being right in the middle of everything Jim Thorpe has to offer.
